What I Do - Reading PLUS other academic subjects

Step 1:  Diagnostic Assessments

I know…kids hate this!  Honestly, I try to make the diagnostics as engaging as possible! I might administer all the following assessments or just a couple of them, depending on your child’s needs:

• Reading Attitude – Reader Self-Perception and Sentence Completion

• Interest Inventory

• Reading Readiness (Kindergarten and 1st Grade)

• Phonics and Spelling

• Reading Fluency

• Reading Comprehension – Fiction and Nonfiction

• Writing skills

Step 2:

I use assessment results to plan effective, engaging reading tutorials for your child.

Step 3:

I implement instruction that is focused on assessment results, reading enjoyment, and positive thinking.

Step 4:

I do a quick assessment of your child’s progress after each tutorial.

Step 5:

I use the above data to plan for upcoming tutorials, repeating steps 2 through 4.

One individual tutorial (60 minutes) per week designed specifically for your child
